Cardiology

The physicians who practice at the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute are highly-skilled cardiac specialists with years of experience caring for a wide range of patients. Whether an individual's heart healthcare needs include diagnostics, surgery, angioplasty, medical management, or other services, CMHVI's diverse physician team has the talent, clinical support and technological resources to deliver outstanding care.

Cardiologists are physicians who specialize in diseases of the heart, lungs, and circulatory system. They manage complex cardiac conditions such as heart attacks and abnormal heartbeat rhythms and perform complicated diagnostic procedures, including cardiac catheterization and angioplasty. They also consult with cardiac surgeons regarding patients who require open-heart surgery.

All cardiologists who attain certification in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine must first be certified in internal medicine.
